Week 3A: Goal Setting

PSI's "Choose2Matter" program is an after school program at Park Street Intermediate School. Park Street is home to seven hundred 5th and 6th grade students and is located in Grove City, OH. The program is in its first year and the goal is simple. Give students the time and resources to make an IMPACT on the world. Student groups meet twice a month for two hours at each meeting. If you are interested, you can find out more about "Choose2Matter" here. Please feel free to follow along with our journey and leave a comment for the students below!

On Thursday, Oct 3 we had our first 'split' group meeting. The following groups met: Cancer, Staying Active, Positive Impact and Bullying. The students' main goal of the meeting was to establish a GOAL for the year.

During the meeting the students completed an "Individual Assessment" where they analyzed their strengths and areas of improvements and developed their personal goal.  The students also met with their group members to establish a group goal for the year and an action plan.

Finally, the students blogged about their progress on their Kidblog accounts. Students were encouraged to read other group members' blogs and to give them feedback and suggestions.

Here's some information about each group including unedited excerpts from the students' blogs.

This week four of the seven group set goals and like Mallory, I can't wait to see where their hard work will get them!  Next week the following groups will meet:  Animal group, Environment group and the Homelessness/Hunger group. Stay tuned for an update on their progress! :)
